Korean War-era Merimite Container

m1944p3.jpg

The army has always tried it's best to get hot food to the front lines regardless of the problems involved. During WWII the army developed a container called the "Merimite" that had one compartment only, thereby limiting what could be brought up.
After WWII ended, development continued in the field of hot rations and the Army came out with an "improved" version of the old conatainer. This version would continue to be used from the Korean War-era into today.
This is a 1952-dated US Army "Merimite" container with all the parts (except one) intact. The rubber seal ring is intact and all parts are clean and useable.  The only missing part is one of the lids for the interior containers (easily replaced). This is a great item for the Korean- or Vietnam-era collector or reenactor.

M14, M14A1 Rifle Vietnam-era Army Manual

tmform14.jpg
This is TM 9-1005-233-10, "Operator's Manual for Rifle, 7.62-MM, M14, W/E, March 1972."  The technical manual is pocket-sized and is about 70 pages (with photos) on the Operating Instructions, Maintenance Instructions, Maintenance of material, Ammunition, References, and Basic Issue Items for the M14, M14A1, and M2 Bipod for the M14/M14A1 used by the US Army during the 1970s.  The 35 photos show all the parts of the weapon and disassembly of said weapon.

Manual is in great condition with some discoloration on the front cover due to a removed sticker (not there when we acquired it) and would be a great addition to a M14 (or one of it's semi-auto clones) or to a Vietnam collector or reenactor.

Vietnam-Era Chiêu Hồi Program  M-16 Magazine Pouch

chieuhoibag.jpg
Talk about something you don't see every day! And we even got a lot of these in the ORIGINAL box they were shipped in!

The Chiêu Hồi Program (pronounced "Choo Hoy") was started by the South Vietnamese to encourage Viet Cong members to defect during the Vietnam War. Usually, leaflets delivered by artillery shells or openly dropped on enemy-controlled areas were used as a way to get their attention as well as messages broadcast over areas of South Vietnam. The messages promised safe conduct and a number of other incentives to those who chose to cooperate.

These ethylene vinyl bags were used by the U.S. military to hold M-16 magazines and sealed at the bottom to help prevent moisture from damaging them. Since solders are very busy during a firefight, they would tear the bag open at the top and drop the remainder on the ground. It was hoped that the bags with the printed message would be later discovered by the enemy troops and consider defecting.

There were small problems when the Chiêu Hồi Program pamphlets and bags had unintentional misspellings and offensive statements -- so we not being fluent in Vietnamese cannot assure you that the statement is what it's supposed to be. But, these are ORIGINAL and in MINT condition!

Get yours while they last! Bulk orders are accepted but will be taken on a first-come, first-served dibs basis (as always) so if you wait you might not get as many as you want!

Vietnam-era M-65 "Paratrooper" Trousers

m-65pants.jpg

An original pair of Vietnam-era M-65 Trousers.  When I first got into the Army in 1981, we were still being issued the old green uniforms.  We didn't get these pants because we were told by our drill sergeant that only "f--kin' paratroopers and not you worthless straight-legs" were issued this style. Back in the day, the U.S. Army issued these pants that came out during the Vietnam war only to paratroopers and special forces, not the regulars.  These pants are basically the WWII airborne pants in OD Green instead of khaki.

This particular pair of pants is in excellent shape with all snaps, zipper and pull-tabs in fantastic condition (this pair looks almost unused) and would be a great addition to any collector of late 20th century airborne or US Army uniforms.

Treatment of Chemical Warfare Casualties, TM 8-285, August 1951

tm-8-285.jpg

Original copy of Treatment of Chemical Warfare Casualties, TM 8-285/NAV MED P-1328/AFM 160-12, August 1951.  155 pages of information regarding the treatment chemical warfare casualties.  The manual was prepared by the Departments of the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force.  It was written primarily for the Department of Defense and was occasionally adapted for civil defense needs.  There is a typed leaflet tucked inside to remind local oficials that treatment of chemical warfare casualties by untrained personnel is not encouraged.  There are also many black-and-white photos showing burns and blisters casused by chemical warfare.  Some of the photos are disturbing and others are graphic, showing injuries to the genital area which are uncensored.  This is an important piece of history for those wanting to know more about chemical warfare prior to the 1960s and for those who collect chemical warfare millitaria.

Missouri National Guard 235th Engineer Group DI Boxed Set

cc216.jpg

#CC216  This item is an original boxed set of two (2) distinctive insignia (or crests) for the 235th Engineer Group of the Missouri Army National Guard.  The design was approved on April 7, 1971. The unit was a command and control unit for the Missouri National Guard's engineer units on the western side of the state.  The 235th was located in the Kansas City area and lasted until the late 1970s when it was disbanded. The unit only had approximately 100 total personnel at any one time.  These DIs were made by Wolf-Brown, Inc. of Los Angeles, California.

The official description of the DI is as follows:  "The fort supported on each side by the bayonet and shovel refers to the combat engineering mission of the Group. The fort represents planning and supervision of construction of field fortification and the demolition activites of the unit.  The numerical designation is represented by the two implements, three charges, and the five-bastioned fort.  The grizzly bear is associated with the crest of the Missouri Army National Guard and indicates the Group's allociation."  The unit's motto is "TRAIN BUILD WIN"

These are fairly rare crests/DIs to find at all, and finding them still in the orginal box is even rarer.  A great addition to the Missouri National Guard, army engineer, or military DI collector.

Inert LAW rocket tube

LAWtube.JPG

The LAW (Light Anti-tank Weapon) was single-shot and there-by "shoot and toss" weapon developed to replace the heavy and cumbersome "bazooka" from WWII and Korea for use in the Vietnam and Cold War conflicts.  The weapon worked, sometimes.  It fired a 66mm rocket that hit the target, sometimes.
Both the US Army and the USMC used this weapon through the Vietnam and the Cold War. So it is sometimes hard to tell where the Vietnam version ends and the Cold War one begins.
That said, we think this is a Cold War-era version, but we're not 100% sure, so we offer this item at a low price just in case. The item is has some issues.  There is no end caps, the tube will still extend and retract but the glass front sight is no longer perfectly square and will not fit back down, but the rear sight will.  The tube has some small holes drilled into it and the word "INERT" is pained (by stencil) on the upper portion of the tube.

Regardless, these tubes are very hard to find in any condition (the Army has this silly idea that destroying these inert items is a good idea) so don't wait to buy this item before someone else does!. An unusual item to add to your collection!!

Vietnam War "Pocket Change"

It's said by many that a true reenactor not only wears the right items, but has the "correct change" in the pockets as well.  But not everybody has the time to go through tons of unsorted coinage at a coin show (it's teadious, trust me).

So to fill that void, we have the following package for Vietnam War reenactors:

The set consists of a South Vietnam 1 Dong, a 5 Dong coin (or a 10 SU), and a 10 Dong coin. All the coins will have 1971 or earlier dates and they are of course in used (but really nice) condition.    Price: $5.00/set
