AN/VVS-2(V)1A Night Vision Driver's Periscope

|
The AN/VVS-2(V)1A (night periscope) is a through-the-hatch scope for armored vehicles. It is used by the vehicle
driver or other crew members. The night periscope enables the driver to drive at night, under black-out conditions and
also can be used to observe around the vehcle at night. The equipment uses and electronic tube and circuitry to increase
the brightness of low-light levels. Inside the vehicle the user sees a much brighter, green colored picture of the low-light
view outside. It provides closed-hatch night driving for armored vehicles without the use of the vehicles' driving lights.
This item weighs approximately 16 pounds (take that into consideration for shipping!) and requires a 28-volt vehicle-powered
connection (per technical manual, not included). However, it will operate on a BA-1567/U battery -- of which we have
none since they're (1) out of production and (2) mercury-based and not something we just have lying around. We DO NOT
guarantee or even guess if this item is operational. We have NO way of testing it (the armored vehicles we've been asking
Santa for every year have not shown up) and your purchase is in AS-IS condition.
The AN/VVS-2(V)1A was used on the M60 and XM-1 tanks. All parts are there except the Protective Cover which kept bright
light, dust and dirt from damaging the outside portion as well as the Storage Cap which covered the cushioning pad and viewing
lens. No manuals are included but you can find them online for download (that's how we got a lot of this info!).
A very unique item for that hard-to-shop-for person on your list! It's perfect for anyone who collects armored vehicles,
military optics, or has an M60 they want to drive around at night. BUT -- this is for DOMESTIC SALE only! No international
orders will be accepted. We know many countries that don't like us still use the M60 and we're not going to get into
that. So we will ONLY ship to U.S. addresses.
Glass Homefront "Saucer Hat" Powder Jar

This WWII "Home Front" or "Sweet Heart" item is a hard item to describe.
It's made of thick clear glass and comes in two parts. The lower part is in the shape of a WWII enlisted man's saucer
dress hat and has the correct "eagle" side buttons and larger "eagle" on the front. The second part is the lid or top
of the hat. This has been mirrored and still shows a reflection very well. The size is about 2 1/2" at it's highest
point and about 4 1/2" in diameter.
I've seen this item described as both a candy dish and a container for a woman's
make-up items on her bedside table. I'm more inclined to believe the second due to the mirrored top.
This item is in excellent condition with NO cracks in either piece! It's
the first time I've ever seen the top along with the bottom and in clear glass, not yellowed.
"Forty and Eight" Medal

|
This 2" x 1 1/2" medal with attached ribbon is the "Forty and Eight" Medal
from the American Legion. This medal is based on the French boxcars that hauled American Doughboys to the front lines
in WWI. The boxcars were called 40 and 8 because the railroad cars could either carry 40 soldiers or 8 horses!
The only way to get the medal is be a member in good standing in the American
Legion, membership is by invitation for members who have shown exemplary service. All Forty & Eight members are
thus veterans of congressionally recognized wartime periods via their Legion membership. It's an excellent piece of
post-war veteran service!
Pre-WWI (Spanish-American War?) 4th Infantry, Co. M cap device

|
#CC299 Everyonce in awhile we get in items that really interest us. This item is a cap device of a hunting
horn (what denoted infantry prior to the adoption of crossed rifles in WWI) with a number "4" in the center and the letter
"M" on top. The item has a screw back and is 2 inches high and 2 inches wide. It appears to be made of brass and
is in excellent shape for it's age.
Our best guess is that it's from either the late Indian Wars or the Spanish-American War period. A rare item
from that period!

Plastic Canadian AR-15/M-16 magazine

|
This is one of those strange magazines that we sometimes find in our travels. It's a black plastic magazine that
will fit into an AR-15 rifle. It's marked with a canadian maple leaf insignia near the bottom and lower half has "ribs"
for strength (I guess). Anyway, it's a neat little item for the shooter or collector.

Modern-Day US Army MP Brassard with Korean Characters

|
What you see is what you get! It's a US Army MP brassard (armband) with a 2nd Infantry Division patch and Korean characters
embroidered on it. Velcro closure on the back (so it's obviously modern) and in excellent condition. No maker-marks, so we
don't know if it was made here or over there. Perfect for the MP or 2nd Infantry collector!
Army Air Corps Sweetheart Compact

|
This small 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" woman's compact has a very tiny US Army Air Corps
wings-and-propeller insignia on the front. When you first open it there is a mirror and applicator pad that
is marked "Elgin American." The tray for the applicator is also marked "Elgin American - Made in USA" and is opened
by a small spring-loaded button. Under that is the area where the makeup is kept. There is still some of
the original powder in the compartment.
This is an excellent example of what the women of the time used and the fact
that it is a piece of "sweetheart jewelry" from the WWII-era makes it even nicer. A great addition for the "homefront"
collector!
"Viet Nam" Bamboo(?) Cups

|
This set of 6 "Viet-Nam"-marked cups are some of the nicest of the "GI bring-back"
items we've seen in a long time. The cups appear to be made from bamboo (the "wood" looks very fibrous) and the color
of the "wood" varies from a golden color to a darker wood shade. All of the six cups are similar (but not totally) in
size and construction. Each cup is about 4 1/2 inches high and about 2 1/2 inches wide.
This set would look great as part of a Vietnam collection or display for the
collector or reenactor!
325th General Hospital Distinctive Insignia

|
This distinctive unit insignia is for the US Army 325th General Hospital.
The DUI is clutch-back and has a "G23" hallmark on the back. The design was "officially" approved in 1970, but the unit
has been around since WWII where it was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation and was in the campaigns for Northern France,
Rhineland, and Ardennes-Alsace. The DUI is in very good condition and would be a great addition for the Medical
Corps collector!
41st MAS Aircrew Baggage Tag

|

41st MAS Aircrew Baggage Tag. This came inside a duffle bag I bought back during Desert Storm and I'd forgotten
all about it. On the back, the name "H COLSON" is embossed. Don't know who he/she was, but I hope they didn't
need it for their luggage...or maybe that's how I got it. It's 2-1/2" long.
